Suave, intense, and harmonious. The union of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot grown on the terraced hillside vineyard overlooking the offices of the Estate result in a Curtefranca of extraordinary elegance and finesse. The roots draw from marine sediments, interbedded marls and clays, and confer upon the wine the true taste of the terroir.
DOC Wine
Production zone: Franciacorta (Brescia), from proprietary vineyards located on the Madonna della Rosa hill in Monticelli Brusati.
Blend: 35% Merlot, 35 Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Cabernet Franc
Yield per hectare: 60/80 Quintals/Ha
Planting Density: 4,000 vines per hectare, trained to the spurred cordon system
Vineyard Management: Complete, sown ground cover. Organic fertilization using the cuttings from mowing on the rows and on the banks, without adding mineral fertilizers.
Terrain characteristics: A terraced hillside with mortarless retaining walls (machines are not used in this vineyard); exposure to the south; the terrain consists of calcareous marls and clayey sediments rich in fossils and microelements. In Autumn, to maximize sugar contents and varietal aromas. The harvest is by hand, with selection of the grapes on the vines.
Vinification: Destemming and pressing in steel tanks. Fermentation, followed by a very long period of maceration on the skins, with several pushdowns per day.
Aging: In barriques for 12 months, followed by bottling and at least 18 months of bottle aging.
Available in 0.75 liter bottles and 1.5 liter Magnums.
Best drunk after 4 years from the harvest.
Tasting notes and food-wine pairing: Ample bouquet with forest berry fruit, jam, licorice root and spice. On the palate it is soft and full, with good structure, and is complex and persistent. Excellent with game, roasts, and braised meats.
