Merkki: Vigneti Massa
The "Montecitorio" is an intense white wine produced by the great pioneer Walter Massa, a great winemaker from the Tortona area and who has rediscovered the potential of Timorasso. The wine has an exuberant minerality and a rich aromatic profile, with notes of yellow fruit, honey and dried fruit, due to maceration on the skins for a few days. DESCRIPTION OF THE MONTECITORIO
The Derthona "Montecitorio" Vigneti Massa is a purebred, deep and incisive white wine produced by the pioneer of the Tortonesi Hills. When we talk about Walter Massa, we approach it as a sort of iconic figure, capable of identifying in himself a wine-growing area of which he was the first to understand its full potential. Here in the Tortonesi Hills, in fact, Walter is still considered to be the guru of the area, the first to firmly focus on Timorasso, an extraordinary local vine that had hitherto been underestimated, and to make it famous among Italian wine lovers and beyond. A story that has been going on for over 40 years that of Walter at the helm of the family winery, made of courageous and unconventional choices, but always favoring local traditions and grapes, such as Barbera, Croatina and Freisa, in addition to the aforementioned grape variety white. The wines, endowed with unique expressiveness, are unmissable tastings for those approaching this world, since for long-time enthusiasts they are already a must.
The "Montecitorio" Derthona is obtained from pure white berried grapes. In the vineyard we proceed with peasant sensitivity but at the same time with obsessive attention to the degree of ripeness of the grapes, which must be full and satisfying. In the cellar, alcoholic fermentation continues and the liquid comes into contact with the skins for 2-3 days.
The "Montecitorio" wine is presented in the glass with an intense yellow color that turns towards gold. Deep and very wide nose, where there are distinct references to hazelnut, honey, hay and flint, typical mineral imprint deriving from the combination of vine and area. The taste is full and sumptuous, with an imposing structure that initially expands in width but which is enlivened by a savory extension of a champion. Gorgeous.
Color Straw yellow with amber reflections
Scent Hints of dried fruit and honey with ample minerality
Taste Fresh, mineral and pleasantly structured
