AREA OF PRODUCTION: The vineyards of the Castelvecchio estate, on the hills of Terricciola in the province of Pisa; the hills with western exposure

VINEYARDS: Vine density of 2207 vines per acre (5434 vines/hectare), cultivated using the Guyot method

GRAPEVINES: 90% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc

GRAPE HARVEST: All grapes are hand-picked and placed in small crates in which they are taken to the winery where they are promptly de-stemmed.

VINTAGE METHOD: While stored in temperature controlled steel vats fermentation occurs as a process of the indigenous yeasts, the steeping period lasting 10 days. The purification of the fine sediment is completed over a nine month period, 80% in wooden barrels of second and third passage, and 20% in steel.
