These pickled olives are famous all over Italy: this is the great oval variety "Bella di Cerignola" of the Puglia region. The world's largest olives, they say. They are polish, fleshy and tasty. Cerignola is a coastal town in the Puglia region (south-east of Italy). The olives of this variety must come exclusively from that area. They are harvested from mid-October and are generally kept in brine in wooden barrels, "vascidd".
