Vinpepato delle Crete is a maceration of spices, herbs and roots in a fortified Chianti wine base and comes from careful processing aimed at respecting the indications of its ancient recipe. In a Sangiovese grape must, fermentation is stopped by adding red fruit alcohol, thus increasing its alcoholic strength. The purpose of the fortification was once primarily to be able to store wines during long journeys. In this case, the goal was to extract a greater amount of organic substances and active ingredients from the botanicals.

Having lost its purely medicinal purpose, Vinpepato has been reworked mainly in its alcoholic strength, but its old flavor remains unchanged, the perfect ending to a meal, to be enjoyed at room temperature or, during the warmer seasons.
