The name ziti (or zite) has an origin rather curious. At one time the girls with no husband Sundays were home alone to prepare pasta with Neapolitan sauce, rather than attend mass. This format along with a circular section then took their name, zite. Before being cooked should be broken by hand. Combining classic - it goes without saying - is with Neapolitan sauce.
