Harvested from the oldest vineyards in the "first growth" Niederberg-Helden. The vines were planted in the 1920s and are mostly ungrafted. With an incline of 70% of the slope, the noon sun is placed almost vertically on the vines and the Mosel River reflects the sun with mirror intensity. This causes the dehydration of the grapes to the state of raisins. A dessert wine with an overwhelming flavor of exotic fruits and perfect harmony.
Beerenauslese edelsüss has a burgundy red label.
The intense botrytis leads to further dehydration of the berry and further dries it up causing a color change from violet to burgundy red.
During the main harvest period, the entire team picks the small, raisin-like berries from the grapes.
Towards the end of the harvest, the whole bunches have wilted to a portion of their original size and we remove them from the stems.
These botrytis berries have already been dried in the sun and some have withered into raisins.
The raisins are collected back into different boxes and then pressed separately.
Raisins for Beerenauslese are slightly dry but still pneumatic and juicy.
The reddish brown raisins produce a juicy sweet Riesling wine with elegant acidity and great balance.
