Notes Champagne Henri Giraud is one of the best Champagne producers in Aÿ, a Grand Cru village in the Vallée de la Marne.
Champagne Henri Giraud Aÿ Grand Cru MV15 (formerly known as Fut de Chene MV15) is a cuvée of 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay coming exclusively from Aÿ Grand Cru vineyards. The basis of Champagne is the 2015 vintage, which makes up 70% of the Cuvée. 2015 was an excellent vintage with a dry and sunny summer, which produced uniformly ripened bunches and small grains. Ideal for the Pinot Noir which gave birth to rich and concentrated champagnes.
The remaining 30% of the cuvée is made up of wines from the Perpetuelle Riserva from the 2000 to 2014 vintage.
The wine is fermented exclusively in wooden barriques of the Argonne forest, which thanks to the poor soil means that the oaks grow slowly, forming denser woods, ideal for maturing the delicate Champagne wines.
MV15 was taken care of in all details by Sébastien Legolvet, son-in-law of Claude Giraud, who today leads the Maison.
It is a complex Champagne with intriguing floral scents mixed with spices, almonds, mineral hints and a slight smoky nuance that slowly gives way to delicate menthol notes. On the palate it is important, rich and characterized by the chalk-mineral note of the Aÿ terroir. The barrique remains in the background, helping the wine without ever being evident. Aÿ Grand Cru MV15 is a champagne that will continue to evolve for more than a decade.
