Notes The Ratafia Champenois is a fortified wine typical of Champagne produced from fortified grape must.
Claude Giraud, patron of the Champagne House Henri Giraud, has always been a great supporter of the Ratafia Champenois and it is thanks to his efforts that the recent AOC was born.
Giraud's Ratafia Champenois is produced with 70% Pinot Noir from Aÿ and 30% Chardonnay. After pressing, the must is fortified with Champagne brandy and aged with the Solera method.
Intense amber color, it recalls the old Champagnes. The nose is powerful and complex with notes of cherries in alcohol, spices, almonds, maraschino, chocolate and orange peel. On the palate it is creamy, full and velvety with the classic "rancio" taste typical of the best fortified wines which accompanies notes of dehydrated apricot, cocoa and cherry. The finish is exceptionally long and persistent.
The Ratafia Champenois currently on the market is produced from the assembly of wines from 1990 to 2013.
