Type of vino: vino tinto
Carmenère is an old Médoc grape variety which has almost disappeared because it was not suited to modern viticulture (it liked to be planted in crowds at 30,000 vines / ha without rootstock). There are only a few hectares left in the region. On the other hand, it has experienced a new life in Chile where it has become the star grape for the past fifteen years.
After the successful experience of Zinfandel, the Arjolle domain tried that of Carmenère. It took several vintages to find the right style for this grape. The 2016 seems to us by far the most successful.
The color is translucent dark purple.
The nose is fine, fruity, dominated by blackcurrant (fresh fruit and liqueur) complemented by black cherry and spicy and bloody notes.
The palate is slender, elegantly deploying a fresh and silky material which gradually gains in opulence. The tension is brought by a fine acidity which knows how to remain discreet. The balance is of a perfection rarely achieved in Languedoc.
The invigorating finish reveals a fine chew with expressive fruit, mixing blackcurrant with menthol and pepper, with a persistence on cocoa and mocha. Classroom.
The estate adheres to the Terra Vitis charter for healthy viticulture. Analyzes have shown that when applied with care, as is the case with Arjolle, the wines are free from chemical residues.
