Finding wines made with hairy Grenache is not an easy task, even less if we think of monovarietal wines, and practically impossible if we do not want the price of the bottle to skyrocket; even so, this Almodí meets all the conditions mentioned, as it is a hairy Grenache monovarietal of exceptional quality at a price that is hard to believe.

The hairy Grenache (or borruda) is found in Aragon, Castilla-La Mancha, Catalonia, Alicante and southern France. Disused for years due to its supposed vegetal profile, modern oenology has made it possible to produce wines full of personality in which the aromas of wild fruits are imposed on the vegetables, while elegance and delicacy take over the whole. As a curiosity, it is important to know that its name derives from the villi that form on the underside of its leaves.

The Almodí is a red from Terra Alta that combines all the virtues of the great hairy Grenache from old vines. Its aroma is seductive, balsamic, purely Mediterranean. In it, the tones of scrub are combined with notes of wild fruit. On the palate it is juicy, liqueur but fine, broad and elegant. With some aeration, blue flowers and licorice appear, fine toast and sand dust. The tannins are somewhat rustic but round and its volume captivates with friendliness. Memories of blackberry and pepper jams that become more obvious over time, round off an aromatic habit usually associated with another price segment.
